About the Landscape Images

It's been over ten years since I first started to photograph the natural landscape seriously. I'm still a young 31, gunning for 32, and so I got a reasonably early start while at university.

I'd always had a love of mountains, and I suppose it's in the blood when your father and uncle were both avid mountaineers. You might say it was inevitable I'd end up at least learning some mountaineering skills and seeing what all the fuss was about. I did exactly that. On my first winter trip to Mt Ruapehu with my uncles old camera, I had a blast photographing the landscape. I'd had to study hard beforehand since the light meter was no longer functional after my uncle spent a year in Antarctica working on telecommunications back in the '70s. My landscape images are shot on a wide variety of equipment, all the way from 35mm films cameras, to medium format cameras, to large format cameras, and 35mm digital SRLs. More recently I'm working with large format and digital.

Prints are all traditional photographic prints, using digital processes. They are not giclee, or inkjet images, but silver gelatin prints on resin coated and fiber based papers for the black and white prints, and the amazing Fujiflex mirror finish color prints made with a digital enlarger. I take great care with each print and make each image to order from master files for complete consistency of color and tonal range.

I hand mount and mat the images myself using both buffered and non-buffered cotton-rag mat boards depending on whether the image is black and white, or color. My packing materials are also first rate, and I take great care with each shipment to ensure you get the finest images in perfect condition.

I'm continually making new images as I travel the country, and overseas, and as I find prints worthy of being offered as fine-art prints I add them to the website after an extensive proofing process.
